What a permitted home kitchen is
A MEHKO (Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operation) is a food business that operates legally out of the operator's own home, permitted by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Food is cooked and served the same day, sold directly to the customer, and the kitchen is inspected. cual.co has been an approved home-kitchen intermediary since November 2024.

Neighborhood tamale makers, by the dozen or by the piece, same-day or by order.

Aguas frescas, atole, champurrado and drinks made at home.

Approved stands and carts serving antojitos, mariscos and street classics.

How it differs from a restaurant
- •The operator lives in the home where the food is cooked and is responsible for the operation.
- •Food is prepped, cooked and served the same day. Leftovers are discarded.
- •The operator holds a Certified Food Protection Manager certificate and a Public Health permit.
- •Sales are direct: on site, delivered by the operator, or picked up. No third-party delivery apps.
- •Menus are small and they change. Many kitchens work by order or by the day.
How to order
- 1.Search by dish or by your city and see which kitchens are close to you.
- 2.Open the profile: the menu, the photos and reviews from other neighbors are there.
- 3.Contact the operator directly by phone or WhatsApp from their profile.
- 4.Agree with the operator on a time, and on pickup or delivery.
- 5.After you eat, leave a review. That is what helps the next person decide.
